Welcome to your dream holiday villa on the Cilento Coast in Italy. Villa Le Cannicelle, set above the lively town of Villammare, is the perfect place to sunbathe and take in the Mediterranean sea.
Experience Cilento Coast at its finest - amidst lush gardens, endless terraces, sea views, and a panoramic pool with Villammare at your feet.
Villa Cannicelle is a traditional, Italian style with accommodation on 3 levels, a private pool and enjoys wonderful sea views from its elevated position, stretching for miles along the Cilento coast. The villa’s hillside is positioned to enjoy the surrounding Mediterrean views and is just 600 metres from "Santa Maria Le Piane" sandy beach. The ancient, relatively unspoilt fishing village of Villamare and the marina is approximately 1 mile away providing an autentic glimpse of Italy .The village sits at the foot of Cilento National Park, on the rugged and unspoilt Tyrrhenian coast, with its long beaches, colourful Mediterranean flora and seafronts lined with palms and eucalyptus trees. Villammare offers a small selection of bars and restaurants and during the summer months there are lively beach cafes available.
The "marina" of Villammare is less than 1 mile therefore possible to wallk, but a car is recommended because the last part of the road to the villa is quite steep ( its the villas' elevated position that provides such beautiful views!).
Built in a traditional Italian style and comfortably furnished with modern, contemporary décor, the accommodation on each level at Villa Cannicelle is self-contained making this property in Italy ideal for families and large groups. The rooms are bright and airy featuring simple and elegant Mediteranean taste. There are 5 bedrooms in the main villa and an additonal annexe with space to sleep extra guests if required.

Ground floor:

Well equipped kitchen, French doors to terrace and steps down to panoramic "taverna" style covered dining terrace seating 14 with summer kitchen, barbecue and traditional Italian wood-fired pizza oven.

This floor is not air conditioning because it is naturally cool due to the big oak tree at the south front of the villa and due to the big porch made of stone.

Lower terrace with vine covered pergola, large medierranean oak tree providing extra shade and "taverna" style covered dining terrace seating 14 with summer kitchen (sink and fridge), built-in charcoal barbecue and traditional Italian wood-fired pizza oven. 2 further outdoor dining areas on first floor level. Parking for 10 cars.
This area of Italy along the Tyrrhenian coast is known for its mouth-watering cuisine and the friendliness of the locals who make visitors welcome so they long for their next trip. There are plenty of historical sites to visit and lots of places to explore, for example the larger town of Sapri is 2 miles away with train links to Salerno and Naples. Or moving inland away from the coast are charming hilltop villages. Boat trips are also not to be missed, from the delightful port at Scario ( 8 miles away from Villa Cannicelle ) to Porto Infreschi, passies by the caves and hidden coves or reach the Amalfi coast and the island of Capri by hydrofoil from Sapri harbour within 3 hours.
Long sandy beaches, a colourful seafront fringed with palms and eucalyptus trees, small restaurants, cosy venues and cottages make Villammare the ideal choice for travellers who enjoy charming off the beaten track locations.
Explore the Amalfi Coast on a daily tour to Napoli, Pompei, Herculaneum, Matera – in the summer you can reach the Amalfi Coast, Ravello, Positano, Sorrento and the island of Capri by hydrofoil from Salerno or Sapri harbour –
Other activities to enjoy are horse-trekking on Mount Bulgheria, hiking or canoeing to the “Gole” (Gorges) of the River Bussentoor simply relax on the sandy beaches and at the end of a busy day enjoy the memorable sunsets from the terrace at Villa Cannicelle
Exclusive service : For guests staying at Villa Le Cannicelle, through the local AVIS office, we can arrange one-way or return transfers from the airport to the villa. Or arrange to have your rental car delivered directly to villa
Additional Services : Private skippered boat can be arranged on request for trips to Sapri, Palinuro, Porto Infreschi, Acquafredda, Scario or Maratea beaches where you can watch the sun set or visit some of the many natural sea caves with their mesmerizing, colorful reflections.

Rates based on an occupancy of up to of up to 14 people (10 adults and 4 children). A local tourist tax applies from June to September, 1 euro per person per night. This tax is not included in the rates above and has to be paid upon check in, it is not applicable to children under 14years, and can be applied for a maximum of 5 nights. We spent a week at Le Cannicelle in August 2018 for a family reunion and holiday. We were 5 adults and 5 children (aged 6 to 15). We had an amazing week at Le Cannicelle - one that we will remember forever!
The Villa is a gorgeous 3 floor structure and we rented the entire villa. On the first floor (or ground) are 3 bedrooms (one facing the sea, and the other two facing inwards), a large living and dining space, 2 full bathrooms and a nice spacious kitchen. There are two doors that open up to a covered patio that looks over some lovely flowers and out down over the sea. There is also an outdoor dining area and then at a lower level a complete outdoor kitchen. The 2nd floor has a contained 1 bedroom unit with its own living room (with a sofa bed), kitchen, dining area and a bathroom - and the 3rd floor is also another independent bedroom unit (smaller than 2nd floor) but also with a small outdoor patio.
The villa is luxurious and comes with a housekeeper who shows up every day from 9am to 1pm (except Thursdays). This is a huge help as it kept the villa clean and many chores done allowing us to spend more time with our families. From my earliest interactions with the owner, I felt just incredibly comfortable in speaking to him. He is a genuinely caring person who goes out of his ways to ensure that his guests have an amazing time and he is always accessible (we had him on whatsapp). He went above and beyond to make the house comfortable and accessible for each of our family members.
The villa has the most stunning views from all floors looking out towards the hills further south and out into the beautiful sea. The pool is incredibly well kept and we spent at least 3 days lounging by the pool. There is plenty to do (boat excursions, beaches, driving to nearby villages or further out to Pompeii or Naples) or not do and just chill at Villamare. It is a little out of the way - but we loved that as it allowed us to experience a part of Italy that most foreign tourists never get to. The people of Villamare and surrounding villages are incredibly friendly even though they may not speak much English. The food and wine is amazing. - the owner connected us to a chef who came and cooked many delicious 3 course meals for us.
Upon our return I asked one of our 9 year old twins what was his favorite part of his stay at the villa, and he responded "Everything!". Yes, we all agree. Thanks for an unforgettable family reunion
The villa is wonderful. A fantastic location with sea views and private surrounds. Our host made sure all our needs were fully met. Gardens pretty with apricot orchards set against blue sea vistas. The pool was hard to clamber out of. Perfect temperature (June) Equally the nearby sea was so clean and clear and delicious to swim in. Heavenly. Diversity of activities in this area. Cilento national park has stunning mountain scenery tumbling down to the sea. Hiking to waterfalls. Boat trips. One of the best family holidays we have ever had.
This was an incredible place to vacation for my family. If you want to escape to the real Italy, away from the tourists but experience the best of the Italian coast - this is a gem! The pictures do no justice to this place. The villa is full of all the luxuries we needed. The bedrooms were all very large with good design and great amenities. The bathrooms were well stocked and extremely clean - as was the whole houses immaculate. The kitchen was great and a fun place to prepare food. The outdoor kitchen was also a real treasure at night for long dinners with our large group. There are many eating areas and balconies with well appointed seating for morning coffees, afternoon reading and evening cocktails. Lots of space to get some quiet time. Our family enjoyed so much time at the pool. It’s huge and has great steps leading into if you have little ones. There was a box full of pool toys too which was brilliant for our group. There was also a great slide and swing set in the garden - it is an endless activity center for a family. The villa is surrounded with lots of delicious fruit trees and everyday we picked lemons, plums, peaches as we played in the garden. It was magic. Perhaps the best part of the trip was our host and his team. He was incredible helping us plan activities before and during our stay (definitely recommend the boat trip and booking dinner at his local favorites). He shared with us his family wine - which tasted even better with the stories he shared about his family. Maria the housekeeper keeps the home immaculate and always there to help with anything we needed. They really made us feel welcome and shared the best of Italian hospitality. We will be back to stay again - it was heaven
