Mas de Serra is a wonderfully renovated villa in Spain, located one of the most spectacular and wildest parts of the Iberian Peninsular, it is a true Mediterranean mountain paradise. The villa offers 8 bedrooms and can sleep 16-20 guests, with its soaring views, set in the middle of a historic fifty acre almond farm but with all the comforts and services of a boutique hotel.
All of the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and are split into 5 doubles and 3 twins though this ratio can be changed with notice (a children’s dormitory is available in the summer). There are 2 superior suites, one with sitting room, open fire and private terrace and one split level with Victorian stand alone bath in the upstairs bedroom so you can lie back and soak up the view of the mountains. Cots are also available on request. All of the 8 bedrooms have stunning views of the mountains, almond groves and the limestone butresses which dominate one side of the property.

The facilities available to guests include an 8x5m Solar heated swimming pool, steam room, home cinema, Satellite TV, DVD, fully equipped kitchen, 3 sitting rooms, 1 covered terrace, 2 uncovered terraces, 2 patios, disabled facilities, original bread oven, 2 dining rooms, TV room, fireplaces, 60 acres of wilderness and almond groves, laundry service, personal chef, an extensive cellar stocked with regional wines and honesty bar as well as broadband internet in the house and grounds.
There are 3 sitting rooms including the entire top floor with 360 degree views leading to a covered roof terrace. On the ground floor is the fully equipped restaurant style kitchen, 2 dining rooms, the TV room and home cinema room with DVD & Satellite.
Hiking maps, guidebooks and mountain bikes are also provided for guests to explore. Here the endangered Spanish ibex can be seen playing in the evening light. By night the stars make an incredible display as there is a total absence of light pollution, then by day you can relax on one of the terraces and gaze out over miles of wilderness without another single house in view.
This unique property was bought by the current owners in 2002, and it was in a very dilapidated state, but now fully restored it provides a luxurious, country house atmosphere in one of the most beautiful and remote parts of the Iberian Peninsula.
The location of Matarranya is perhaps the last authentic region of Spain – where the three great kingdoms of Aragon, Catalunya and Valencia converge in a Mediterranean mountain paradise described as the ‘Tuscany’ of fifty years ago.
Guests are taken good care of by the villa staff Luis and Jenny who are available to ensure all guests requirements are fulfilled, whether it be to organise a poolside barbecues, babysitting, airport collections or arranging activities etc.
The property also comes with a fully stocked wine cellar and honesty bar, its own pure mineral water and a welcome hamper. Breakfast and dinner are provided 6 nights per week and complete access to the kitchen facilities are available to guests who want to prepare snacks or lunch etc.
