The stunning restored 6 bedroom villa, Grand Canava is ideally situated in Oia, overlooking the Caldera from the top of the cliff and offers spectacular views of the volcano, the beautiful deep blue sea and the island of Santorini. Guests can enjoy a peaceful stay in a unique design, carved into the volcanic rock face, to create an “Yposkafo”, the most sought after cave-house residence.

The villa is easily accessible on foot from the marble paved pedestrianised main street, which takes visitors through the picturesque and cobblestone alleys in the village of Oia with its charming little shops, cafés, artist workshops, village bakery and sweet shops. The main street leads to the northwestern tip of the island to the castle ruins and one of the most famous sunsets. You can continue down the 220 steps to the fishing cillage of Ammoudi for a swim and to buy the fresh catch of the day.

Grand Canava is a two storey traditional Santorinian house, with the restoration keeping some of the original architecture and design resulting in what is currently offered as east, west and main canava areas. A “canava” was a place where wine was produced, and typically consisted of a main staging area with two adjacent storage rooms.
The villa has high vaulted ceilings creating a naturally cool interior, with large windows bringing in the sun light and traditional “parathira” top window openings to allow the cooling sea breeze to circulate.

Local natural materials, like “pori”, red volcanic pumice rock for the exterior window frames, colors that blend with the surrounding geology and techniques inherited from the past, like “patito” for the bathroom wall interiors, create an authentic traditional santorinian residence. As a final touch, original artwork, antique and traditional style furnishings make for an elegant and homely ambiance which is discretely complemented with all the comforts expected of a home at modern times.

The accommodation of this amazing villa in Santorini has two terraces and a large swimming pool courtyard with wonderful uninterrupted views out to the sea and Caldera volcano. Grand Canava comfortably sleeps up to 12 people, in three distinct living areas referred to as east, west and main canava, all with separate courtyard entrances for maximum privacy.

Main Canava - accommodates 6 people
There are 3 separate bedrooms built in two levels, central to the east and west sides of the original Canava.
There is a very spacious dining room filled with natural light and a large monastery style table to comfortably seat 12. The kitchen room is designed as a separate area with easy access to the dining area and there is an adjacent wine storage. Guests can enjoy the home entertainment corner with sofa, TV, DVD player, CD stereo system and a collection of movies, books and board games.
There is an impressive bedroom with a platform king size bed and dressing area, an additional double, the romantic room, with double iron bed and cozy snug under its own cave style dome are on the ground floor. These two rooms are adjacent to each other both have private luxury en suite bathrooms.
At the front side, an indoor staircase carved out of the rock leads to the upper level, where there is a 3rd bedroom, with high vaulted ceiling queen size iron bed. It also has a small fridge, bathroom with walk-in shower and a private verandah with wooden table for six, a sun umbrella and lounger, and panoramic views of the caldera.

West Canava - accommodate 2 people
There is a spacious vaulted bedroom with queen size iron bed, a sitting area with a wooden table for two, fully equipped kitchen, TV, air-conditioning and a cave style private bathroom with walk-in shower. In the courtyard there is a table and sun umbrella and a great view of the pool.

East Canava - accommodate 4 people
There are two vaulted bedrooms, air-conditioning, a sitting room , TV and kitchen with view to the pool and the island Caldera.
The master bedroom is at the back carved into the rock with a romantic queen size platform canopy bed, a typically santorinian style separate living area and windows to bring in the light and the beautiful view.
The second bedroom is situated at the front and has a double iron bed with a direct view to the pool and clear blue skies from your pillow. Both rooms have access to a spacious sitting room with a wooden table for four and a fully equipped kitchen and they share a luxurious large cave style bathroom with bathtub and shower. There is a wooden table and sun umbrella in the courtyard as well as sunbeds for sunbathing by the pool.
