The Mediterranean climate provides plenty of sunshine, mild temperatures and a limited amount of rainfall. Due to the geographical position and its expanse from the mainland across the sea to the islands, there is great variation in Greece's climate. During the summer months, the dry hot sunny days are cooled by breezes of the "meltemi", the seasonal wind. In the more mountainous regions the temperatures are usually lower and winters are mild in lowland areas.
If you enjoy shopping, then Greece is the place for you, it is a country where shoppers have a wonderful time. There are lots of shopping centres where you have the opportunity to buy at reasonable prices, plus there are designer quality shops and family type stores, so make sure you space in your luggage to take back your purchases! Shops opening hours are generally 09:00-14:30 Monday to Friday, and 17:30 - 20:30 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Saturdays they are open 09:00-15:00. Sundays they are closed.
Greece is also a great country to discover by sea, with the benefits of years of marine tradition, good sea conditions has created a vastly increasing tourist demand. The Greek seas are considered to be safe, distances from coast to coast are small, and the overall conditions wind and sea temperature etc are favourable.
