Along the 120km of famous coastline, there are over 40km of sandy or shingle beach, remarkable scenic views and a Mediterranean style climate of mild temperatures and sunshine for most part of every year. With the variety of cultures and lifestyles, there is something for everyone. Whether you are considering lazy days by your villa pool, visits to the old Provencal market towns, lunch at on the fashionable beachfront restaurants in St Tropez, shopping in a modern city or just soaking up the history and art. The colourful French markets are usually held twice a week on different days, depending on the locations and they are filled with a variety of good and fresh food items.
20 minutes drive up into the hills behind Cannes, is the medieval village of Mougins with its attractions for famous artists including Picasso in days gone by. The flow filled narrow streets are home to many art galleries and a selection of quality gastronomic restaurants. Cannes - famous for the glamorous and glitzy film festival in May each year, brings visitors from all over the world to catch a glimpse of the favourite movie stars arriving at the "Palais des Festivales". As you would expect in such a chic place location, the main street " La Croisette " runs parallel to the beach and has an abundance of designer shops and boutiques to satisfy every fashion from Louis Vitton, Gucci, Dior and the list goes one.
St Jean Cap Ferrat is an elegant and exclusive peninsular with luxurious and sumptuous villas in their own private grounds. The harbour is lined with quality restaurants, many specialising in seafood and it is also the mooring point for many stunning luxury yachts. St Tropez was once a quiet coastal fishing village, but is now the fashionable summer holiday place for Hollywood stars, Royalty and rich people who like to be seen. The beachfront restaurants, such as Nikki Beach and Club 55 are some of the favourite choices, many visitors anchoring their chartered yachts in front and taking a tender ashore, when they will dine and then party until the early hours. Some of the night clubs, for example the VIP room only become alive after midnight and close just before breakfast.
The beach at St Tropez, Plage de Pampelonne, is 5km long, ideal to find your own space and top up that tan after a heavy lunch. Alternatively, wander through the shops in the narrow back streets of the village. Have a coffee at the Café de Paris on the harbour and watch he world go by. A few kilometres drive from the centre of St Tropez is beautiful countryside and vineyards stretching for miles, and the medieval villages of Gassin and Ramatouelle are worth the drive.
