Mojacar, Almeria the Moorish coastal capital is aptly named and known throughout Spain as El Rincon del Embrujo, "The Corner of Enchantment".
This area is a unique blend of mountains and valleys, which shelter the beach and the sea.

There is the old village of Mojacar, a dazzling white Moorish style village on a hill top facing the Mediterranean sea with it’s maze of Moorish arches, narrow winding cobbled streets, an array of shops offering the local art, a working fountain from which to sample fresh, mountain spring water and stairways climbing up and down the steep mountainside. In the evenings the villages becomes a lively meeting point with bars and restaurants.

From the old town of Mojacar heading towards the beach is the Mojacar Pueblo (village) approx 1.5kms away – this is a purpose built centre where local flamencos shows etc are performed, and there are also shops and bars that surround the village.

Mojacar Playa (the beach) is across the road from the Pueblo, and about 1.5kms from the Old Mojacar village. The beaches stretch across almost 17km in this area, with only 7 kms currently developed, the beaches are long, clean with no less than 3 Blue European Flags and are broken up with tiny coves. There are many quality restaurants and bars that line the beach, some staying open late into the night.

The charm of Mojacar attracts many visitors as it has an almost perfect all-year-round climate with great summers and mild winters. Plus the sea water temperature is believed to be warmer in winter than its air temperature making swimming an all year round activity too.

Every modern convenience is to be found here as well as a sports facility, sailing, fishing and golf, superb restaurants, boutiques, charming squares, many fiestas and Open street markets - 

Things to see and do
Garrucha - A thriving fishing port and Marina – just before sunset each day the boats return to auction off their catch at the quayside, experience this colourful spectacle, followed by a delicious meal in one of the numerous fish restaurants in the village.

Water-sports: These can be found along the beach – from waterski, jetski, kite-surfing, inflatable water rides for children, canoes, paddleboats

Scuba diving is also available locally - PADI courses and recreational dives for all ages from 8 upwards. Or there is the water-park at Vera

Quad trekking ; a great off road mountain experience in the Sierra Cabrera behind Mojacar

Cabo de Gata national park - beautiful beaches, great snorkelling

Mini Hollywood – Visit the old Wild West film sets Clint Eastwoods dollar westerns, such as The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, A Fistful of Dollars and many others.  Wander around the town, see shows and visit the Zoo – 45-60 minutes drive from Mojacar.

Granada – 2 hrs drive from Mojacar - it is a beautiful and historical city with so much to see and do, with The Alhambra, the ancient Arab quarters of the Albaicin, try some free tapas in the excellent bars this is one of the few places left in Spain where tapas are given free with every drink.
